DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys signed cornerback Saivion Smith on Friday, adding to their cornerback depth heading into the offseason program.
Smith went undrafted in 2019 after leaving the University of Alabama as an early draft entrant. He was then signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars but was eventually released as part of the final cuts heading into the regular season.
Smith started all 14 games for Alabama during his junior season in 2018, finishing with 60 tackles, three interceptions, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, and a defensive touchdown.
Smith likely comes to the Cowboys as a camp body or practice squad candidate.
With the NFL on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, it is unclear if and when on-field team operations will resume.
