OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a deal to bring back running back Alfred Morris, 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher reports. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com was the first to report the deal.
Terms of the deal are unknown.
Alfred Morris will drive his crappy ol’ car right into the #Cowboys Zeke-free starting lineup. Vet RB signing and coming to Oxnard (@RapSheet 1st) - @1053thefan pic.twitter.com/KODW9JHNKP

July 30, 2019 According to Jane Slater of NFL.com, Morris was in New Orleans today working out with the Saints but quickly moved on to the Cowboys once they called the veteran. Slater adds that Morris' family remained in the DFW area while Morris played for the San Francisco 49ers in 2018.
The Katz brothers, his agents, tell me he will be in Oxnard for training camp Tuesday. He worked out for the #Saints today but when #Cowboys called it was an easy pick. He feels like Dallas is home. It’s where his wife, 2 kids and his newborn have remained when he was in SF. https://t.co/fEHChbnIED

July 30, 2019 The timing of the deal is fairly interesting as the Cowboys star running back, Ezekiel Elliott, is holding out for a new contract. 105.3 The Fan's Kevin "KT" Turner reported earlier Monday that Elliott was heading to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to continue preparing for the season while his reps worked on hammering out a deal with the Cowboys.
Fish reports that Elliott's representatives have received a contract offer from the Cowboys but had yet to accept the deal or send a counter proposal. You can hear more of his thoughts on Elliott in the video at the top of the post.
Morris played in 12 games last season for San Francisco, rushing for 428 yards and two touchdowns. He added eight catches for 73 yards out of the backfield.
Morris, 30, spent two seasons with the Cowboys from 2016-2017, and was fairly productive as the change-of-pace back behind Elliott. He ran for 243 yards in 2016 and 547 yards in 2017, and had three total scores.
Morris notably took over the starting running back role while Elliott was suspended for six games in 2017. During that span, he rushed for 430 yards and a touchdown.
