DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper appears to be nearing his return to the practice field after sitting out the majority of training camp with a foot issue.

Team insider Mickey Spagnola reported Wednesday on 105.3 The Fan that Cooper is "ready to go," and will return to practice next week.

"I was told he's been running well, that he will be able to get back into practice next week and get ready for the Giants game," Spagnola said on the Ben and Skin Show.

The diagnosis of Cooper's injury has been all over the map from plantar fasciitis to now an "intrinsic muscle strain of the heel" injury.

Spagnola's report aligns with what the Cowboys have believed all along when they've said that they expect Cooper to be ready for Week 1 against the New York Giants.

Cooper played in nine games with Dallas last year after being acquired in a trade from Oakland and caught 53 passes for 725 yards and six touchdowns. Overall, he registered 75 receptions for 1,005 yards and seven scores en route to a third Pro Bowl appearance.

Cooper is also engaged in contract extension talks with Dallas as he's in the final year of a rookie deal that pays him $13.9 million in 2019.
