Dallas Cowboys Select Oklahoma DT Neville Gallimore With 82nd Overall Pick In NFL Draft

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Needing to add some defensive help to their roster, the Dallas Cowboys elected to beef up the defensive line by selecting Oklahoma DT Neville Gallimore With the 82nd overall pick in the NFL Draft.

After redshirting his first year at Oklahoma, Gallimore was a consistent contributor for four years with the Sooners, playing in 46 games, racking up 147 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks.

Gallimore was part of a Sooner squad that won four consecutive Big 12 Championships and made three-straight College Football Playoff appearances from 2016-2019.

After the acquisitions of Dontari Poe, and another former Sooner in Gerald McCoy through free agency, the Cowboys add yet another body to the middle of a defensive line that struggled big-time against the run over the last two seasons.

With uncertainty still surrounding last year's selection of Tristyn Hill of Central Florida, who was only activated in a hand full of games last season, this pick adds depth and talent to a now up and coming group.

Now likely done with day two of the 2020 Draft, the Cowboys will look to improve the defense even more on Saturday and could be looking to add even more bodies to the secondary, after their selection of Alabama CB Trevon Diggs in round two.
