Dez Bryant: Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones And Jason Witten Should Attend Protests

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant said over the weekend that owner Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones and former teammate Jason Witten should attend protests to understand what unity means.

"Somebody should have brought Jerry jones Stephen jones and Jason witten to this protest down in Austin......this is not a policy change this is a heart change and yea I said it," Bryant tweeted Sunday. "I don't feel like I'm calling them out but I feel they will get a different understanding of what unity really look like."

Witten later responded to Bryant on Twitter:

"Dez - When I saw your tweet, I tried to call you. I don't know what you're feeling, but I do know what I stand for and believe in. I believe it's time for change. I believe we must all listen. I believe together is the way. Let's unite and impact change together. Much Love."

The NFL and the Cowboys sent out messages Friday calling for the end of racial injustice after some of the league's top stars asked the NFL in a collaborated video, "what if I was George Floyd?"

"Our hearts are burning with anger and sadness. Racism and hatred have to stop. We have to come together to change the system," the Cowboys said in a video posted on the team's Twitter account.

"We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest," said Goodell. "I personally protest with you and want to be part of the much-needed change in this country."

Jerry Jones has been one of the league's most outspoken owners when it came to players protesting during the national anthem, saying in 2018, "our policy is you stand for the anthem, toe on the line."
