DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Unbeknownst to him, the original No. 88's life was about to change. The former Cowboys receiver was going about his every-day life on Tuesday when he suddenly received a call to let him know that he was named as the lone senior finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"I was surprised. I wasn't expecting it because I didn't know they were going to be picking the senior candidate yesterday," Pearson said on Shan and RJ on 105.3 The Fan. "I was just sitting outside, I did a bunch of yard work yesterday morning ... and the phone rang and I saw (it said) Canton, Ohio.

"As soon as I saw Canton, Ohio, on my phone. I started shaking. I started crying. Tears started coming down my face. I know Canton, Ohio ... there ain't much going on in Canton, Ohio. The only thing I know about Canton, Ohio, is the Hall of Fame."

Pearson went on to say that David Baker from the HOF was on the other line, who then informed him of his nomination.

Pearson must receive at least 80 percent of the vote from the 48-member selection committee in order to gain entrance into the hall next August. The vote will take place on Feb. 6.

Pearson was snubbed by the Pro Football Hall of Fame, yet again, back in January. This time, however, it appears he'll finally get to put on that gold jacket.
