December 18, 2019 E.J. Smith made the announcement at his high school Jesuit Dallas, as the early National Signing Day period kicked off Wednesday.
Smith is a four-star running back and is listed as the No. 3 all-purpose back in the country, according to 247Sports. He's the No. 144 overall prospect and No. 23 ranked player in Texas.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound back chose Stanford over his father's alma mater Florida, his sister's current school Texas A&M, Georgia and Ohio State.
