Sporting Kansas City, Atlanta United, Orlando City and Inter Miami became the first teams to allow players to return to their training grounds for individual sessions Wednesday, and others are expected to allow players back beginning Thursday.
FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez joined 105.3 The Fan on Thursday to discuss his team's plan.
"We've been planning something for the last two weeks. Very similiar to what everybody is seeing with Orlando, Miami, etc. We decided not to break our week in half. Our players have been working very well independently and following our plan with videos and zoom and all those things," Gonzalez said on the K&C Masterpiece. "So, we feel confident that we're going to get our goals accomplished this week, and start this with good feedback from the league, and how these teams have done it the last few days, and taking that feedback, having our protocol, and having a fresh start next week is the idea for us."
Gonzalez added that the team is implementing several safety measures to keep their players safe, including giving them their own parking space, which will be seperated from each other.
The second-year coach also said he's excited to get the team back to together all in one place.
"I'm super excited. I know the staff's excited. I know the players are excited. We're going to learn a lot next week," Gonzalez said. "This is a good next step for us. I can't wait to see our boys. I can't give them a hug yet, which I would love to do. ... We're going to work individually, but we're going to keep it competitive."
