Mike Fisher:

Old Dallas Mavericks coach Dick Motta used to reflect on a new NBA schedule coming out by observing drolly, 'Well, there's 41 away and there's 41 at home.'

We think all of this is a bit more exciting than that ... especially because the Thursday release of the Dallas Cowboys 2020 NFL schedule, well, gives us all something to do.

Three highlights, to me:

Week 1 - at Los Angeles Rams, Sept. 13 720p - Jerry Jones gets his way. The Cowboys will open up the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. (P.S.: We're also told they'll play Preseason Game 2 at SoFi against the Chargers.) That keeps Southern California as part of Cowboys Country - Just the way Jerry likes it.

Week 12 - home Washington, (Thurs) Nov. 26, 3:30p - Thanksgiving is a feast ... and hopefully Dallas can feast on rival Washington. A high-profile game ... no time for a letdown. Yet, I sense the chance for one. Dallas will have just played at Minny and will be looking forward to playing at Baltimore. A weird Turkey Day danger zone here.

Week 15 and Week 16 Sandwich - Home against San Francisco, Dec. 20, 7:20p, defending NFC champs, and then home against Philadelphia, Dec. 27, 3:25p.

It's a tasty sandwich, really.

If you have to play tough teams like the Niners and the Eagles (and you do), and if you have to play them back-to-back (and in 2020, you do), you might as well play them at home, as occurs at the end of December.

Prediction: 10-6

10-6 for those keeping score at home. They were an 11-5 team last year per the data that ended up 8-8. Even if you think their losses outweigh their gains for this year's team, we shouldn't compare them to an 8-8 team, because they never were one (Sorry, Bill, you aren't what your record says you are). They're slightly "worse" than an 11-5 team, making them 10-6. If you follow this logic, congratulations. If not, have faith, it'll all come together for you soon.
