DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Per a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the New York Giants would have a significant interest in Cowboys head coach, Jason Garrett, should the team decide to make a change at the position.

Garrett has seemingly been on the proverbial hot seat for multiple seasons now, only for the Cowboys upper managment to decide to retain him throughout his rocky tenure.

This season could be different, however, with Jerry and Stephen Jones making it pretty clear that anything short of a significant playoff run would be considered a failure of a season.

Through the first 10 games of the season, Garrett's performance has been inconsistent at best, with the Cowboys failing to beat a team with a winning record outside of the division, including frustrating losses to the Saints, Packers, and Vikings, as well as dropping an inexplicable loss to the New York Jets.

The major criticisms in all of those losses were similar, with most pointing fingers at Garrett's inability to have his team ready to play and his stubbornness with sticking with the run when it wasn't working.

While there were other factors, including subpar defensive performances through that stretch, Garrett has obviously still felt the heat, as he has uncharacteristically begun to take responsibility for the shortcomings in a public forum. He has also seemingly opened up the playbook and taken the leash off of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in the last two weeks, allowing the offense to become much more explosive and unpredictable.

It is unclear at this point who the Cowboys would pursue if Garrett is not retained, but if the Cowboys season is deemed unsuccessful in the eyes of the Jones family, Garrett could very well be wearing a different shade of blue next fall.
