FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - In addition to my on-air report earlier this week about safety Xavier Woods readying to be a starter in Week 4, Dallas Cowboys officials are offering good injury news on Amari Cooper and Zack Martin, too.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones tells 105.3 The Fan on this morning that wide receiver Amari Cooper should be ready to go for Sunday night's game at New Orleans against the Saints.
"Yes, I feel very good about that," Jones said. "I think we're in good shape."
Cooper has been limited in practice this week, after getting an MRI on his ankle. Those tests came back clean for the Pro Bowler, who has four touchdowns in three games this season.
Another standout, right guard Zack Martin, has been limited for much of the week and was a DNP on Thursday; I'm told it's about "back soreness.'' But coach Jason Garrett this morning said he expects Martin, who is dealing with disk irritation, to practice today.
Meanwhile, my early-week prediction that Xavier Woods is ready to return to the Cowboys starting lineup at New Orleans stands. Woods hurt an ankle in Week 2 and immediately came sort national reports that he'd miss six weeks. Instead, as I write here, it's going to be more like six days.
Dallas isn't perfectly healthy; defensive linemen Tyrone Crawford (hips) and Antwaun Woods (knee) are still not ready to go. But all in all, good news on the injury front from here at The Star as we get ready to pack our bags for Cowboys at Saints, which you can hear right hear all day Sunday on 105.3 The Fan.
