Jalen Brunson Says He Wouldn't Be Ready For Potential June Re-Start

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson joined The K&C Masterpiece on Friday to discuss a variety of things while the NBA mulls over a potential re-start after a long layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Brunson wasn't playing when the NBA stopped play on March 11 due to a shoulder injury he had previously suffered. The guard then elected to have surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder during the stoppage of play. However, the team didn't announce a timetable for his return. It was thought that the time away could benefit the second-year guard, but it doesn't appear that he's close to being ready.

"If it started in June, I don't think so. As much as I would want to, as much as I'd try to force them to let me play, I don't think it would be a possibility," Brunson said when asked if he'd be ready for a potential June re-start. "But, it's definitely going well. I have had some doctor checkups. I've had to go into the doctor's office, had to get checked in for like 20 minutes to make sure I didn't have a fever, washing my hands ... So for the first I had to do things at home and stay in my brace. The next couple weeks (we've) implemented more things into it, getting some range of motion back and we're just progressing that way."
