DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported that it's "increasingly likely" the NFL and NFLPA will agree to expand the regular season from 16 games to 17 games in the new CBA.
According to the Post, the proposal would call for teams to play fewer preseason games and would also expand the number of playoff teams from 12 to 14.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked Friday about the report during his bi-weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan.
"I think the logistics are very manageable," Jones said of a 17-game schedule. "I think it's a question of demand for the quality that it brings. We have a lot of demand for our games. It's important to everybody involved. It's important to the players because that improves the revenue situation that will ultimately create more opportunities for players financially."
Jones also said he doesn't anticipate the league adding a second bye week to teams' schedules, and confirmed that adding playoff teams was a possibility.
The current CBA runs through the 2020 season, so any changes won't occur until the 2021 season.
