Kenny "The Jet" Smith Says Mavs Don't Need Third Star To Pair With Luka & Porzingis

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - TNT's Kenny "The Jet" Smith joined 105.3 The Fan Monday to talk about the Mavericks' chances of contending when the league re-boots in Orlando later this month

He also took the time to speak on not only this year's opportunity for the Mavericks, but also in future years.

With two stars in tow in Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, the Mavericks have an opportunity to strike in free agency following the 2021 season when stars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Rudy Gobert, Jrue Holiday and others hit the market.

But in Smith's opinion, Dallas already has what they need to contend for titles.

"You need more?" Smith quipped when asked about the Mavericks chances of becoming a free agent destination for other stars. "A destination for super stars? You got two right there. You got all-star in Porzingis, who's been an all-star (before he was injured). And you got an all-star in Luka... This is it. You don't need anything else. This is what every franchise wants is two guys like that."

The Mavericks are very unlikely to take Smith's opinion and sit out of those conversations when the time comes. As he always does, Mavericks GM Donnie Nelson will be looking for every opportunity possible to improve the team around his star-studded duo.

Regardless of those sweepstakes, Smith's confidence in Luka and Porzingis is high praise for the Mavericks and their future.
