DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys defensive coach, Kris Richard, will return to the team in 2019, according to several reporters at the Pro Bowl in Orlando.
Richard interviewed for three head (Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins) coaching positions this offseason but wasn't chosen for any of the jobs. Richard, however, said Thursday that he may not have taken one of the jobs had it been offered because of how strongly he felt about the Cowboys' organization.
Cowboys coach Kris Richard, who interviewed for 3 head coaching jobs in the last month, said there was no guarantee he would’ve left the Cowboys had he been selected. Said the support he has received in Dallas has been “amazing.” #cowboyswire

January 24, 2019 “This is a first-class organization. ... If I would’ve been chosen (for a head coaching job), there’s no guarantee that I would’ve left. I gave them my word that whatever decision was going to be made I would come back to the table and talk to them," Richard said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.

January 24, 2019 Despite Rod Marinelli being the Cowboys' defensive coordinator, Richard was the one calling the plays last season.
It's not known if Dallas will promote Richard to defensive coordinator but Marinelli gave his blessing to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher earlier this offseason.
"I'll do whatever the Cowboys need to be done for us to keep Kris Richard. I only care about what’s best for the players. I don’t care about titles. Having Kris here is best for the players. That’s all I am in favor of.''
Richard echoed a similar sentiment about Marinelli Thursday.
“He’s like one of the top three men in the world as far as I’m concerned. He has great character. He’s tough. He’s demanding. I just love his attitude. He’s what is right about America. He’s hard. You can’t live soft and be hard. I love him," he said, via Machota.
