DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After spending more than a month playing with an injured hand, and various other aggravations, Dallas Mavericks superstar is fully healthy and ready to return to action according to Mavericks' owner, Mark Cuban.
"Luka's hand was hurt, right? Now it's not hurt," Cuban revealed in an interview with Frank Isola on SiriusXM radio. "When (Doncic and Porzingis) play together and we have a full squad, we're really good you know? And the confidence in our guys is great."
Perhaps one small silver lining of the NBA's hiatus in play due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, is that it has given the players ample time to rest, and the majority of injured players time to heal from their various injuries.
Obviously, that is a small positive considering the vast devastation that has been caused by the virus around the world, but for the Mavericks, in particular, that time off was sorely needed as a good portion of players were playing with either serious or nagging injuries down the final stretch of the regular season.
Now, with the exception of big man Dwight Powell and guard Jalen Brunson, the Mavericks are nearly fully healed, rested, and ready to go as the NBA begins to form its plan for a resumed season, and their playoff spot all but guaranteed no matter the format that is decided upon.
"We've got some sleepers on this team, Seth (Curry) and Timmy Hardaway, and guys who can really play," Cuban said in the interview. "Dwight (Powell), unfortunately, and Jalen (Brunson) got hurt. But, I mean, when you talk to our guys, there's nobody on this squad that doesn't feel like we can't beat any team. "
The league is aiming for a July 31st return to action in Orlando, with Adam Silver reportedly ready to present a 22-team plan to the NBA Board of Governors on Thursday.
"Everbody is just frothing," said Cuban. "Everybody can't wait to get back. You know, these guys are athletes. they're professional basketball players. This is what they love to do and they want to play. And so, you know, everybody is really, really looking forward to figuring this out.
