DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban dropped an interesting bit of information during his visit with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.
While talking about the Michael Jordan documentary, "The Last Dance," Cuban said he attempted to sign Jordan after he left the Chicago Bulls.
"The day he signed with the Washington Wizards to come back, (agent) David Falk said I should go meet him,'' Cuban said, via the G-Bag Nation, while painting the picture of Jordan with a desk-full of Wizards-related paperwork in front of him. "I was trying to convince him to not sign with them and to (instead) do something with the Mavs.''
Jordan returned to the NBA in 2001 after walking away from the game in 1998 after winning his sixth championship with the Bulls. At the time of his return, Cuban had owned the Mavs for less than a year.
If Jordan were to have agreed to spurn the Wizards to instead sign with the Mavs he would have joined a young trio in Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash and Michael Finley.
Jordan went on to play two seasons in Washington, averaging 22.9 points per game at age 38, and 20 points per game at age 39.
