MLS Suspends FC Dallas Goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez After Alleged Domestic Abuse

The MLS has suspended FC Dallas Goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, following a report alleging incidents of domestic abuse that was made to the Frisco Police Department, per a report from Alex Vejar of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Per a release from the MLS, the League will be working closely with law enforcement, FC Dallas themselves, and the MLS Players Association in an independent investigation into the matter. 

Gonzalez has also submitted to an assessment from Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health physicians, and will not be allowed to partake in any type of team activity until the assessment is completed, his he cleared by the SABH staff, and the MLS concludes its findings.

Gonzalez had just signed a new four-year contract with FC Dallas at the beginning of January, though the full terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Gonzalez has appeared in 115 matches for FC Dallas since 2013 recording 31 shutouts, 313 saves and a 1.38 goals-against average. He was also the youngest goalkeeper to start a match in franchise history in 2015 at the age of 20 against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
