DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA today, but according to future Basketball Hall of Famer Paul Pierce he's even better than that.
"I expect special things from him. You talk about a kid that made one of the biggest leaps in recent memory from rookie of the year to and MVP caliber player. He's won every European championship ... European MVP that you can think of," Pierce said on ESPN's 'The Jump.' "To me, he's the most special player in the NBA, today. And the lights are never too bright for him and I expect big things out of him come playoff time."
Former NBA player and Radio.com Sports insider Kendrick Perkins followed up Pierce's comments by comparing Doncic to LeBron James and Magic Johnson and called him one of the top-5 players in the league.
Heading into the Conavirus break, Doncic was performing at an MVP-candidate level, averaging 28.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.
