DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - We're a day away from the Cowboys landing in Oxnard, California, and it's not immediately clear if their starting running back will be with them.

It had previously been reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Elliott was 'privately' telling people close to him that he was planning to sit out at the outset of camp. But a wrinkle was added to the mix by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports and 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher when they reported that Elliott would lose an accrued year toward eventual free agency if he doesn't show up by August 6.

Which leads us to today.

Two people close to #EzekielElliott tell us they believe he'll show up for start of #Cowboys camp in Oxnard. His representation, however, is certainly aware of holdout option - and the negative ramifications of it. - @1053thefan pic.twitter.com/bbgethRneY

Two people close to Ezekiel Elliott believe he will report on time despite his representation being 'certainly aware' of the option to holdout, and the negative ramifications that come with it, Fish reports. He adds that the 'start' of an agreement is simple: Eliott shows up with a pledge from management that a new contract will be prioritized.

Further validating that belief is the fact that Jason Garrett said Wednesday that he fully anticipates Elliott not holding out, and NFL.com's Jane Slater reported that her sources are 'optimistic' that Elliott will be on the Cowboys plane tomorrow.

As we await the #Cowboys arrival in LA Thursday, sources informed tell me they are optimistic #Zeke will be on the plane. For context, Zeke has proven in the past that despite whatever is going on off the field he still shows up to work and puts his head down.
