Executive Vice President of Communications for the Texas Rangers first announced the trade on twitter.

Travis has been assigned to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, and, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, will likely be used as a platoon player at first base should the Rangers fail to make a high-profile acquisition at the position.

The right-handed hitter had 6 home runs and 16 RBI in 59 games with the Red Sox last season, hitting with a .215 batting average and a .274 OBP.

Travis is a career .230 hitter, with a .288 OBP, a .371 slugging percentage, and a .659 OPS in three Major League seasons, and has seven total home runs to his name in his career.
