Rangers OF Joey Gallo Tests Positive For Coronavirus

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that outfielder Joey Gallo has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Rangers President of Baseball Operations Jon Daniels says Gallo is asymptomatic and is currently quarentening at home.

Gallo tested positive on June 27 but a follow-up test came up negative on June 30. The team decided to wait 48 hours and re-tested him again. They confirmed the positive result on Sunday.

"He'll be tested regularly going forward until he has two negatives spaced out over at least 24 hours," Daniels said, via the Dallas Morning News "... He feels great, he's isolating at home. And I'm thankful for that piece of it."

Evan Grant adds that the club is confident Gallo will be ready for the season when it resumes on July 24, as long as the virus runs its course and he has not other symptoms.
