Rangers Prefer To Let Odor Work Through Struggles With Big-League Club

Rougned Odor
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers are doing everything they can to get Rougned Odor on track at the plate, Jon Daniels, the club's general manager and president of baseball operations, tells 105.3 The Fan.

Odor, who's in the midst of another rough first half of the season, has four hits in his last 33 at-bats and just 13 hits in 95 at-bats in 2019.

Today on the Ben & Skin Show, Daniels was asked if the club had considered demoting Odor to help get him back on track.

"With Rougie, he's had these stretches before. I really don't want it to be where we have to send him down to figure it out. I have a lot of confidence in the staff up here, and ultimately (I) have confidence in Rougie as well," Daniels said.

"His process has been really good I thought in spring training as far as not chasing, kind of understanding his strength in the zone. It had been better the first two weeks even though the results weren't ... but the process was. Then he has the knee injury, and ever since he's come back he's really struggled to make contact on an above average fastball. They're beating him right now and he's clearly gotta make an adjustment. It's definitely something we're talking about ... optioning a guy is always a consideration but we prefer to figure it out up here (with the big league club) at this point."

Daniels also discussed Jose Leclerc's most recent outing, Nomar Mazara's play, and much more. Hear the interview in the audio below.
