Report: Rangers Sign Asdrubal Cabrera To 1-Year Deal

ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers have agreed to a one-year deal with infielder Asdrubal Cabrera, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

#Rangers in agreement with free-agent IF Asdrubal Cabrera on a one-year contract, sources tell The Athletic. Deal will be for less than $5M. Pending physical. Cabrera will play third base.

Rosenthal reports that Cabrera will be replace future Hall-of-Famer Adrian Beltre as the Rangers' third baseman in 2019. He'll earn less than $5 million, but the actual figure is unknown. 

Cabrera, 33, had a .262 batting average with 23 home runs and 75 RBI in 2018 between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. For his career, he has a .269 average with 162 home runs and 705 RBI. 

Cabera, a 12-year veteran, has spent time with the Cleveland Indians, Washington Nationals, Tampa Bay Rays, Mets and Phillies
