DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The trade deadline is just over a week away and the Rangers have lost eight games in a row and are 6 1/2 games behind the Oakland A's for the American League's second wild card spot.

Here are the latest rumors:
* Rangers general manager Jon Daniels joined The Ben and Skin Show Monday to discuss the latest with the club in regards to the deadline.
On trading Mike Minor and Lance Lynn: These are tough calls. I talked to the players about it. I talked to our staff about it. You got guys who are performing at a high level that are filling a need that we need now and are going to need going forward. We need more pitching not less, ultimately. If we ultimately get to a place where we're going to consider moving any of our big league pitchers it's going to be because it clearly makes sense to do so, and I think the return will speak for itself.
Daniels was also asked if moving into the new ballpark next season will impact the team's plans for free agency. You can read more on that right here.
* The Tampa Bay Rays have checked in on the availability of Rangers All-Star Hunter Pence, according to MLB.com's Jon Morosi. It's unknown how serious the talks are at this point.

Texas may be better off holding onto Pence for the rest of the season as they may not get very much in return for his services due to his age and the likelihood that he'd become a platoon player on his next team.
* You can add the New York Yankees to the list of suitors for Rangers ace Mike Minor, according to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic. A deal with the Yankees would be complicated, however, as New York is one of the ten teams Minor can block a trade to, per Rosenthal. It's unknown if Minor would waive his no trade clause in such a deal, but he said last week that he didn't want to be moved. The Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers have previously been reported as teams interested in Minor, according to Morosi.
