DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Dallas police have confirmed an undefeated boxer from North Texas was driving the Ferrari that crashed near downtown Thursday morning. They say Errol Spence Jr., 29, was speeding on Riverfront Boulevard just before 3 a.m.
Police say Spence was driving a white Ferrari at a "high rate of speed" when he lost control, heading north on Riverfront. They say Spence veered over the center median and into the southbound lanes.
Police say Spence "flipped multiple times, ejecting the driver." They say Spence was not wearing a seatbelt.
Spence was taken to Methodist Dallas, where he was in intensive care Thursday morning. Police say he is expected to survive.
Spence is from DeSoto, and the group, Premier Boxing Champions, says his parents are with him the hospital.
Spence is 26-0. He holds both the WBC and IBF welterweight titles.
He won the IBF title Sept. 28 in his last match before the crash.
