Slater added that the Cowboys weren't one of the teams who had spoken with the 29-year-old, but they were expected to make a run at keeping him.
It's unlikely the Cowboys would have been willing to committ to anything simliar to what Quinn received from the Bears despite Jerry Jones expressing a desire to keep him when speaking with reporters at the NFL Combine.
Jones said the defensive end is “one of the top people — people, players and people — that I’ve ever been associated with. He’s the real deal. ... He really helped us last year. So I’m hopeful that we can do something to keep him,” he said at the time, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
For his part, Quinn had said he would like to return to the Cowboys this offseason but understood that "it's a business."
"I've never been a free agent before, so it's an interesting process I'm about to go through. We'll just sit back and see what happens," Quinn said in an interview last month with 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher.
Quinn appeared in 14 games with the Cowboys in 2019 and lead the team with 11.5 sacks.
