Slater adds that the Cowboys aren't one of the teams who have spoken with the 29-year-old, but they are expected to make a run at keeping him.

The Cowboys had until 11 a.m. Monday to reach a deal with any of their free agents.

When speaking to reporters at the NFL Combine, team owner Jerry Jones expressed a desire to bring back Quinn.

Jones said the defensive end is “one of the top people — people, players and people — that I’ve ever been associated with. He’s the real deal. ... He really helped us last year. So I’m hopeful that we can do something to keep him,” Jones said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Quinn could be caught up in a numbers game with the Cowboys having several key free agents to negotiate contracts with.

For his part, Quinn says he would like to return to the Cowboys this offseason but understands that "it's a business."

Quinn appeared in 14 games with the Cowboys in 2019  and lead the team with 11.5 sacks.
