The Cowboys were expected to be one of the teams in on Harris after Troy Renck of Denver 7 reported the team's interest earlier this month.

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - With Byron Jones likely on his way out the door, the Cowboys have their eye on a potential replacement.

Talking to league sources about #Broncos free agents. On @ChrisHarrisJr, there is interest from multiple teams, including Cowboys, Raiders, Texans, Jets and Lions. #Broncos’ stance continues to be to let Harris test market. There will be a market for him. #Denver7 pic.twitter.com/n4Tb2UeaSU

According to Troy Renck of Denver 7, the Cowboys are one of a handful of teams who are interested in Broncos free agent cornerback Chris Harris.

Renck also named the Raiders, Texans, Jets, and Lions who have expressed interest in the 30-year-old.

It's unknown what Harris will command on the open market after coming off of a one-year, $12.05 million contract with Denver.

The Cowboys interest in bringing back Jones has been lukewarm, at best. It's not because of Jones' talent, however, but the price tag he's expected to command this offseason.

Jerry and Stephen Jones are more concerned these days about getting deals done with Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper and Robert Quinn, leaving Jones to seek employment elsewhere. He'll have no shortage of suitors as the Eagles, Giants and Raiders have already been linked to the 27-year-old.

According to NFL.com's free-agent rankings, Jones is the best available corner on the market and could become the highest-paid player at his position when it's all said and done. Harris is ranked as the second-best corner in the rankings.

Harris is a four-time Pro Bowler and made first-team All-Pro in 2016. He had one interception in 2019 and has 22 total takeaways (20 INTS, 2 Fumble Recoveries) in his nine-year career.
