DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Following the injury he suffered against the Oakland Raiders in week nine, Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia said early Friday that he doesn't anticipate Matthew Stafford playing Sunday against the Cowboys.

Not long after, Stafford was officially ruled out for the matchup against his hometown team, making it his second-straight week on the sidelines for the Lions.

Stafford missed last week's loss to the Chicago Bears because of hip and back issues, and could be miss up to three weeks total, as the Lions try to hold things together with Jeff Driskel at the helm.

It will be Driskel's 7th career start in the NFL and the second with the Lions. Driskel is 1-5 in his six previous starts, with the lone win coming in his previous stint with the Cincinnati Bengals in a 30-16 win over the Oakland Raiders in 2018.

Stafford is working on another terrific year for Detroit, throwing for 2,499 yards and 19 touchdowns in the first half of the season.

He was also known as one of the NFL's most durable players before the injury, owning the sixth-longest streak of consecutive starts in NFL history at 139-straight games, ranging from September 11th, 2011 to November 3rd, 2019.

The Cowboys and the Lions will kick off at noon central time this Sunday and will be broadcast live on 105.3 The Fan.
