DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks have their eyes set on making a big splash in free agency, which is set to begin on June 30 at 5 p.m. But, first, they have some housekeeping items of their own to take care of.

Dallas did just that Wednesday when they made qualifying offers to guard Dorian Finney-Smith and power forward/center Maxi Kleber, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported. The Mavericks view both players, who are now restricted free agents, as core members of their roster next season.

Per 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, the qualifying offers on Kleber and Finney-Smith put the Mavericks within $80,000 of being able to work a sign-and-trade to their benefit. Fish has recently been pointing towards a potential deal to be made with the Hornets should Kemba Walker want to join the Mavericks.

By https://t.co/NVriu87nsW calculations, the QO's on Maxi and DFS put the #Mavs within $80K of being able to, say, sign-and-trade Jackson to #Hornets in exchange for Kemba Walker to come to Dallas (should he wish to) and get max. pic.twitter.com/eg00i5VIo4

On Tuesday, Marc Stein reported that the Mavericks and Celtics are at the "front of the line" to secure Walker when free agency. The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are also rumored to have an interest in the 29-year old point guard.
