DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys made the decision to fire Scott Linehan as their offensive coordinator on Friday and some players are reportedly relieved with the move.

"In reaching out to some of the players, I got to tell you there is a bit of a sense of relief and optimism they're going to bring in someone that helps capitalize on some of the strengths of these players ... strengths that a lot of them told me have not been utilized," Jane Slater of the NFL Network reports.

Slater says she has heard from multiple players throughout the season who weren't sold on Linehan as the play-caller.

Former receivers Dez Bryant, Brice Butler and Ryan Switzer expressed frustration with the Cowboys offense last season, and Allen Hurns said the Cowboys have a play-calling problem after they lost to the Houston Texans in week 5. Free agent wide receiver Cole Beasley has also been critical of the Cowboys offensive scheme in the past.
