February 4, 2020 Bird's deal includes an invite to the club's major league camp, which is set to begin on Feb. 10 when pitchers and catchers report.
Bird, a 27-year-old left-handed hitter, was limited to just 10 games in 2019 due to a plantar fascia tear in his left foot. He's shown some power potential when healthy, but hasn't been able to hit for a high average.
Various injuries have limited him to just 186 games since the Yankees brought him up in 2015. He has a career .211 average with 32 home runs and 98 RBI.
