DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys have their sights set on signing Earl Thomas to be the anchor of their secondary and through several reports and social media posts over the last year, we know Thomas would like to end up with a star on his helmet.
Those reports continued today as a former teammate of Thomas, Richard Sherman, says he's recruiting the all-pro to join him in San Francisco, but he acknowledges the Cowboys are in the driver seat.
Cowboys owner Jones won't confirm that - and can't, as the NFL free agency window doesn't open until March 13 at 3 pm CT.
Said, Jones, last Tuesday while overseeing a boxing promotion event at AT&T Stadium when asked about the Cowboys having discussions about the safety position in free agency: "Yes. But that's about all I'll say.''
Thomas, who was the subject of the Cowboys pursuit a year ago during draft weekend, recently moved his family to Austin, as 105.3 The Fan first reported.
Upon reporting this information last week, we cautioned that it doesn't guarantee the Texas native and former Longhorns star will be joining the Cowboys or Houston Texans next season, but it was noteworthy.
