DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys COO Stephen Jones is standing behind his star quarterback, Dak Prescott, despite his struggles Sunday in Philadelphia.
"We have all the confidence in the world in Dak. We've never blinked on that," Jones said on the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan. I think Dak has given us every opportunity to have success this year. I'm as bullish on Dak as I've ever been."
Prescott had several misses in the Cowboys 17-9 loss to the Eagles, which left them on the outside looking in at an NFC East Championship. In his defense, he also had some very good throws on balls that were dropped by receivers.
"I know he felt good about the game plan and I know he felt he could go out there and be successful. If you take the drops that he had, that were not really like our receiving core, Dak still threw the ball well. I know he missed a few keys ones, but most quarterbacks are going to miss some passes. Everybody wants to isolate on Dak. I think he did a lot of really good things."
When it comes to his contract, Jones reiterated the team has made a "very aggressive offer" to Prescott.
Jones last spoke on the negotiations with Prescott with the GBAG Nation on Oct. 26.
"The only thing we need him to do is work with us a little bit, and I understand because it's his money and it's easy for someone else to say, but the only reason we're having a negotiation is to talk him into all the reasons why it's good to have a good supporting cast around him. Other than that, it would be really easy to write the check. It's not saving Jerry and I any money. What we're trying to do is keep this young football team together. We think it's a really good one. We think it's only going to keep getting better because it is young.
"Other than that, this negotiation would have been over with months ago. But I think he understands where we're coming from. We understand where he's coming from. Ultimately, we'll figure this out."
