DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The WNBA is the latest pro sports league to announce their plans for a season after it was delayed due to COVID-19.

The shortened 22-game season will be played entirely at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Each of the league's 12 teams will report to Bradenton in early July, with an aim to start the season in late July.

"It's an exciting day," says Dallas Wings president and CEO Greg Bibb. "I'm proud of the work the league, and the players association, and the stake-holders...have all worked together to get us to this point."

Bibb says health and safety was the biggest hurdle in negotiations. The teams agreed to give players their full 2020 base salary, despite the season being shortened.

Bibb added that social justice initiatives will also be a huge part of the league in the 2020 season.
