Orgeron also realizes the decision to play football this season is out of his hands, but he left no doubt where he and his players stand on the matter.
"Our guys are here. They are working hard. Guys are motivated to win championships here, graduate, (and) go to the NFL, Orgeron said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. "That's what our guys want to do. We have never blinked. We have a saying, 'block out the noise.' I told our team, 'as soon as I hear something that's different than our plan, I'll tell you. But right now, our plan is to play on September 26."
Of the four conferences still in limbo, the SEC has been the most vocal about believing their players will be safe to play during the coronavirus pandemic. Commissioner Greg Sankey said on the Dan Patrick Show Tuesday morning that their medical professionals had given the conference the green light to continue with their seasons.
Sankey's comments lined up with Coach Orgeron's on LSU's plan moving forward.
