He will join an already talented group of wide receivers that includes Josh Gordon and Julian Edleman, in what will be one of the NFL's most potent offenses heading into the new regular season.
One of the most controversial wideouts in all of football, Brown is also one of the most productive and explosive, compiling 837 receptions for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns in eight seasons with the Steelers.
The 31-year old has also been selected to seven Pro Bowls, including in six of the last seven years, and been named First-Team All-Pro four times.
While the Patriots will not be able to use brown in their season-opening matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, he will be eligible for their week two game next Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
