DALLAS (105.3 The Fan/AP) - After the Dallas Stars addressed their offense at the outset of free agency by reportedly signing forwards Joe Pavelski and Corey Perry, they've now turned their attention to shoring up their defensive unit by adding Andrej Sekera.
According to Bob McKenzie, the Stars are expected to sign Sekera to a one-year deal Monday. Terms of the deal are unknown.

The Edmonton Oilers parted ways with the injury-prone defenseman by placing him on waivers with the intention to buy out the final two years of his contract on Sunday.

A torn knee ligament in 2017-18 followed by a torn Achilles tendon last summer limited the 33-year-old Sekera to a combined no goals and 12 assists in 60 games over the past two seasons. He’s a 13-season NHL veteran and due to make $4.5 million in each of the final two years of his contract, and represented a $5.5 million hit to the Oilers’ salary cap.

Dallas also placed forward Valeri Nichushkin on waivers over the weekend, which he cleared.
