Everyone loves logos, right? Here are my three favorite logos for each of the four major sports!
NFL
1—Oakland Raiders
Football is supposed to be a sport of force and intimidation, right? No logo in sports is as intimidating as the Raiders logo. From the mean-looking face to the silver and black, this is the best logo in the NFL.
2—Dallas Cowboys
A single star for the Lone Star State is one of sports' most recognizable logos. It's simple, but that's a part of the beauty of it.
3—Pittsburgh Steelers
Any logo with a hypocycloid (the name of those diamond things) deserves consideration. When you have three hypocycloids, you make the list.
NBA
1—Denver Nuggets
It's a cool logo with meaning to Colorado paying homage to the gold rush. I like the colors and the symmetry.
2—Milwaukee Bucks
A great combination of simple while also having unique features. It isn't boring, but also isn't over-the-top.
3—Boston Celtics
I'd like to believe everyone in both Boston and Ireland looks like that Celtics logo cartoon. I give them credit for throwing out a guy with a beer belly for their logo.
MLB
1—New York Yankees
Is there a more iconic logo in sports?
2—Chicago Cubs
I've always like the colors and the way they're very simply used. It follows in line with the baseball logo norm which is more modest than lavish, but it has a little pop to it.
3—Detroit Tigers
The old English "D" is a pretty recognizable icon tied to a pretty historic franchise.
NHL
1—Colorado Avalanche
As much as they were rivals of the Stars in the 90s, those high-octane Avs teams always fascinated me and I think the logo had something to do with it. The way the "avalanche" wraps around the A is pretty cool.
2—Montreal Canadiens
It's a pretty simple logo that gets major bonus points for placing the "H" in the middle representing the team's secondary nickname: Habs.
3—Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings logo does a great job of seamlessly tying in a historic element with the wheel representing the motor industry.
