The guys talked about several things including his role in the offense, what it's like to be back in the game, and much more.
"I told the PR staff going back to March, 'look, we don't need to have a press conference (to announce) I'm coming back," Witten said. "And coming back, (I just wanted to) lay low and get out there and play ball.
"A big part of that is when you make a decision like this (to come out of retirement)... I can remember early in my career I felt like as soon as somebody stepped away then I could take over.
"Thankfully, they (the Cowboys front office) thought enough of me that I could go out and play. I didn't want them to feel like they had to take a step back (the other tight ends on the roster). You can say that but your actions show you're not doing tons of interviews and being out there, it's their time (his teammates). My thing is, go play. I know what the questions are with my career, and they're fair questions.
"Something tells me that I feel confident that I can have a big role in this offense. Just be as productive ... maybe it's not as many snaps. But I think I can be as productive with getting first downs and making some big plays for this offense."
"I think just the anticipation and how comfortable he is in this offense... All the intangibles that you look for, he's off the charts. He's been that since the day they brought him in," Witten said. He's more comfortable in the system. His throws have more velocity. He's throwing you more out of the cut, he's not waiting to see you open."
