ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - 105.3 The Fan's Jared Sandler provides a scouting report on tonight's starting pitcher for the Rangers, Drew Smyly. You can watch is preview in the video above.

Smyly will look to end the Rangers early-season starting pitching woes when he takes the mound against the Houston Astros tonight at Globe Life Park.

Texas Rangers starters have a combined 10.67 ERA through three starts this season (Mike Minor, Edinson Volquez, and Lance Lynn). Despite the struggles of the rotation, Texas managed to go 2-1 against the Chicago Cubs this past weekend thanks to their powerful offense.

Smyly, 29, has missed the last two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He last pitched in the big leagues for the Tampa Bay Rays, going 7-12 with a 4.88 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 30 games.

Smyly was selected in the second round of the 2010 draft by the Detroit Tigers. He has a career record of 31-27 with a 3.74 ERA.
