ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys ended the preseason with a 17-15 loss Thursday night at AT&T Stadium.

As usual in the fourth game of the preseason, the Cowboys sat out most of their impact players, leaving Jason Garrett to trot out a lot of players fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster and the ten-man practice squad.

Mike White started at quarterback while starting quarterback Dak Prescott and backup Cooper Rush were put on ice. As has been the case for the entire preseason, White didn't show much as he went 14-26 with 132 yards passing and a lost fumble.

The Cowboys fourth-string quarterback, Taryn Christion, entered for White in the second half and had some bright moments. He led what appeared to be a promising drive down the field before fumbling the ball into the end zone for a Buccaneers touchback. He responded by hitting former UNT receiver Jalen Guyton for a 69-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Dallas went for two to tie the game but couldn't convert. Christion finished 11-17 for 142 yard yards and a touchdown. He added another 22 yards on the ground.

Jon'vea Johnson was bright spot on offense with three catches for 32 yards, but was forced from the game with a shoulder injury. Johnson has been creating some buzz at training camp but has been marred by drops in the actual games. He should be a candidate to make the practice squad.

The Cowboys defense had some bright spots as Donovan Wilson's two interceptions helped him make his case for a roster spot. He did, however, exit the game with an ankle injury. After the game, owner Jerry Jones said Wilson's injury checked out "fine" and he'll be "ready to go this week" in practice.

Defensive tackle Daniel Wise added two sacks to beef his chances of making the team, but he likely becomes a casualty of the numbers game.

Dallas opens the regular season at home against the New York Giants on Sept. 8.
