Commanders claim Cowboys DL John Ridgeway off waivers

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Washington Commanders have been awarded former Cowboys defensive tackle John Ridgeway on a waiver claim on Monday.

The Cowboys placed Ridgeway on waivers over the weekend to make room on the active roster for Cooper Rush and Brett Maher. The Cowboys were hoping to sneak him onto the practice squad, but multiple teams put in waiver claims on him, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported on Monday.

Dallas selected Ridgeway in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Arkansas. He was inactive for the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ridgeway gained some fans in the metroplex after he said in his first interview as a Cowboy that he was ready to "break someone's neck" when he gets on the field.
