DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys announced two more positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday afternoon, bringing their new case total to four this week.

Cornerback Jourdan Lewis and wide receiver Simi Fehoko landed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Friday following the additions of safety Malik Hooker and running back JaQuan Hardy on Thursday.

Lewis is the most notable name on the list, with 11 starts this season and ranking sixth on the defense in snaps played in 2021. Rookie second-round cornerback Kelvin Joseph should see a sharp increase in playing time, following a largely anonymous first 15 weeks with the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones joined GBag Nation on 105.3 The Fan on Friday and spoke about Joseph’s opportunity.

“Oh, I think he’s ready. He’s chomping at the bit,” Jones told Bryan Broaddus and Will Chambers. “Certainly when something like this happens it gives players like Kelvin Joseph an opportunity.”

Joseph told 105.3 The Fan on Friday that this is an “awesome opportunity” for him to step in, unfortunate circumstances aside. “Can’t wait,” Joseph added.

Fehoko’s positive test comes after some confusion on Thursday. Head coach Mike McCarthy announced Fehoko was positive on Thursday morning, but Cowboys PR quickly clarified that it was Hardy who had tested positive. Fehoko was showing symptoms, but 105.3 The Fan was told he was negative for both COVID and the flu. With Fehoko’s positive test today, it appears this was a case of a false negative.
