Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams will not play on Christmas Eve against the Eagles after the rookie was involved in a car crash on Thursday afternoon, the team announced Friday.

The Cowboys say Williams will be unavailable after he suffered a concussion and a neck strain in the incident.
Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones hinted that Williams may not be available on Saturday when discussing Williams' status with Shan, RJ and Bobby on Friday morning on 105.3 The Fan.
"I haven't talked to him, but I do know that from the standpoint of the wreck, it's fair to say that he's okay. I say that without analyzing the extent of his injuries," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "They were discussing (the team's medical staff) whether or not he could play (Saturday). But it would be purely a concussion question. I don't have that. I don't know where he sits. I don't know that anything other than the timing of the accident got him within in a pretty sensitive timeframe of playing in the game this week. Because we do need him."
Williams was taken to a local hospital for "precautionary reasons" after being involved in an accident in Plano on Thursday.
Williams was driving a black corvette near SH-121 and Preston Road when he was t-boned by another vehicle that failed to yield to oncoming traffic when they were making a turn. Neither Williams nor the other driver has serious injuries.
Williams posted a message to his Twitter account on Thursday evening confirming that he is "okay."
