DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy held his first press conference of the offseason on Thursday afternoon, detailing the coaching changes, recent free-agent signings, and other decisions the franchise has made in recent weeks.

Among those decisions came a surprising one, as McCarthy announced that veteran defensive lineman and former team captain, Tyrone Crawford, is planning to retire.

Crawford, who became a free agent this offseason, spoke with the Cowboys during exit interviews after last season and came to the decision to end his career.

"Tyrone, he came to me right away in the exit interview process, and he's going to retire," McCarthy said. "But he is going to be here in the area. He lives right down the road and I've actually seen him a couple of times since."

McCarthy was also asked about veteran linebacker Sean Lee, who is also a free agent, but did not indicate Lee's plans this offseason, stating that the Cowboys are still in discussions with the linebacker.

Crawford, who was drafted by the Cowboys out of Boise State with the No. 81 overall pick in the third round in the 2012 NFL Draft, spent nine seasons in Dallas playing multiple positions along the defensive front.

Crawford appeared in 112 games with Dallas, starting 79 of those games, and finished his career with 124 tackles, 25 sacks, and 65 quarterback hits.
