ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys were already NFC East champions before they kicked off against the Washington Football Team on Sunday Night Football in Arlington.

But in front of that national audience, they were able to make a statement as well, dominating Washington 56-14 at AT&T Stadium, and coming within just three points of the franchise record for points in a single game.

However, that was far from the only mark that the Cowboys set on Sunday, as they scored the most points for a team in the 2021 season as well, surpassing the New England Patriots' previous mark of 54 points against the New York Jets in October.

There were also individual milestones set in the rivalry matchup, with Trevon Diggs intercepting his 11th pass, making him just two short of the franchise record, and DeMarcus Lawrence getting an interception for a touchdown, making him the 17th different Cowboy player to score this year.

The score also gave Dallas its sixth defensive touchdown on the season, another franchise record, and set the touchdown also sets the record for the most pick-sixes in a single season in franchise history.

Finally, Dallas scored a touchdown in all three phases of the game, with six offensive touchdowns to five different players, including left tackle Terence Steele, the aforementioned defensive touchdown, as well as a blocked punt that was recovered in the end zone for a score by rookie Chauncey Golston.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was responsible for four of those scores, hitting each of Amari Cooper, Dalton Schultz, Zeke Elliott, and Steele in the endzone, and completing 28 of 39 passes for 330 yards along the way.

In short, the Cowboys dominated in every conceivable fashion on Sunday, in what will go down as one of their most impressive wins in their 61-year history.

Following the win, Dallas will now attempt to close out the final two weeks of the regular season strong, beginning with a showdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Arlington next Sunday.
