The Dallas Cowboys entered a critical matchup on Sunday afternoon against the Miami Dolphins, looking to keep pace with the Eagles in the NFC East Division Race.
Unfortunately for Dallas, a late defensive let down was the deciding factor, with the Dolphins marching down the field in the final three minutes to hit a game-winning field goal as the clock expired in a 22-20 loss.
It was a rough offensive night for the Cowboys, with an early fumble at the goal line, and a touchdown drought in between the the first and final quarters making the difference the overall score.
Dak Prescott did put the Cowboys in position to win, however, leading Dallas down the field for a touchdown with just over three minutes to go.
Prescott finished the game completing 20 of 32 passes for 253 yards and two scores, while CeeDee Lamb added six catches for 118 yards and an early touchdown.
With the loss now sealed, the Cowboys hopes for hosting a post season playoff game is now in an extremely precarious position, and they will now likely have to hope for an Eagles loss on Monday afternoon.
Following the matchup with Miami, Dallas will now turn its attention to next Sunday night, when the now NFC North Division champion Detroit Lions come to AT&T Stadium.
After that, they will wrap things up for the regular season on the road against the division rival Washington Commanders.
