DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It wasn’t always pretty, but the Cowboys secured their third straight victory – all of them on the road – with a 21-6 win over the Giants on Sunday.
Here’s a look at some of the most interesting numbers coming out of the weekend:
4 – With Jourdan Lewis’ third interception of the season on Sunday, he becomes the fourth Cowboys defensive back this season to set a new career-high on interceptions. Trevon Diggs, Anthony Brown, and Jayron Kearse have also set career highs in interceptions this season.
4 – Dak Prescott has beaten the Giants four times in a row on the road. He’s the first Cowboys quarterback to win four consecutive starts on the road against the Giants since Roger Staubach did it seven times in a row.
6 – There have been 17 times in Dak Prescott’s career that he’s averaged fewer than 6 yards per attempt in a game. Five of those games have occurred since November, including yesterday.
9 – The Cowboys finished 2021 just 1-3 against the AFC West, which means they are now 9-1 against the rest of the NFL after Sunday’s victory. Dallas’ superb record against the NFC (8-1) currently positions them for a number of tie-breakers in playoff seeding.
13 – Greg Zuerlein has missed a field goal and/or extra point in 13 of his 29 games played for the Cowboys. Dallas is now 6-7 in games where Zuerlein misses a kick.
14 – Dak Prescott has won 14 of his last 15 starts against the NFC East. He’s now 20-3 against the NFC East since 2017. In fact, Prescott has now won more career games on the road against the Giants than Troy Aikman did during his career.
20 – Yesterday was the sixth time this season that Dallas allowed 20 points or fewer on the road. That’s tied for the most games in franchise history allowing 20 points or fewer on the road. The Cowboys have one road game remaining this season (Philadelphia, January 9th).
28 – Dallas has 28 interceptions in their last 17 games.
They had 28 interceptions in the 54 games prior to that. Dallas had 10 interceptions or fewer as a team in six straight seasons between 2015 and 2020.
That was the longest such streak in the history of the NFL.
121 – Dak Prescott had 121 air yards on 28 completions Sunday. That’s an average of 4.3 yards per completion. For reference, Prescott averages 5.5 air yards per completion in 2021, averaged 6.8 in 2020, and 7.6 in 2019.
293 – Dallas has allowed 293 points through 14 games.
They allowed 433 points through the first 14 games of last season. The Cowboys rank 7th in the NFL in scoring defense as of Monday morning. The Cowboys were 28th in scoring defense in 2020 under Mike Nolan.
790 – Saquon Barkley didn’t lose a single fumble on the first 790 touches of his career. That streak ended on his 791st career touch just before the half on Sunday.
1969 – The last time the Cowboys won road games in three consecutive weeks was in 1969. The Cowboys also won road games in three consecutive weeks in the 1964 season.
